The Tunnels

My only escape was through the tunnels. At best I could walk hunched over but I would spend the majority of the next eight hours laying on my stomach pulling myself by my fingers.
Four months ago, I saw this as my only exit, when this time came. I can remember the day I arrived here...
"This is my kingdom come, my kingdom come", the speakers blared out, "it's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide".

Could this be any better? At an outdoor concert near Vegas, drinks are flowing and the music is great. And the scenery was incredible, scantily clad woman on a warm spring night.
Many songs and many drinks later I found myself stumbling through the corridors of my hotel. Past the slots, past the restaurant, past the gift shop, past the slots. Damn, I'm walking in circles. "Bellhop, er bellhop", I slurred at the man I thought worked here, "can you help me find my room?"

"Sir, the elevators are behind you to the right."
"But where is my key?" I shot back.

"Sir, it's in your hand. Do you require further assistance at all?" The confused bellhop asked.

I tried to ask for another round, and somehow my slurring got me grasped helpfully by the young man in his all too familiar penguin suit, and guided to one of the many bars tucked in between the rows of slots.

"Get this man whatever he requires." The bellhop quietly told the bartender.

SSSSCCOTCH was all I could blurt out. Surely a nice 15 year on the rocks could only increase my level of enjoyment this fine night.

Wait....Wasn't I headed to my room?
The next several hours are a total blank to me. At some point I made it back to my room and fell asleep on my bed. When I awoke fully dressed, I reached for my bottle of aspirin and a glass of water. I was so dry, it felt like I had a cactus in my mouth all night. And my head ached to the point where I didn't think I could balance if I stood up.
